The support should be a good thing but there have been a few too many fans ruining the last few games of the season by booing the players and then enter and exit the pitch. Its common knowledge by now that Sir Bobby Robson spoke out about the situation and tried to clarify what had happened and then later what he had said but it still boils down to the fact that some of these “supporters” aren’t being that supportive.
Obviously this is only a minority but even so it still needs sorting.
The players have also spoken out in turn about the situation and how they feel.
Gary Speed: "I don't think I have ever experienced anything like that before, As far as Hugo being booed onto the pitch, I have never known that happen. He's a 20-year-old from another country and a great lad.”
Its awful that players are being booed on – who can tell how they are going to play once on the pitch, The fans who booed Viana obviously don’t have enough believe and lack optimism. But even so to kill off a players confidence by giving them a reception like that is truly awful.
Newcastle United skipper Alan Shearer looks ahead at tonight’s match with confidence but knows that the season overall has been disappointing and its not just the fans who feel it.
“There is a lot of doom and gloom about the place since the game against wolves on Sunday – which I can fully understand.”
“If we can make it to fourth it would make it a decent season for us. Not a great season, but a decent one.”
Alan Shearer’s main comments, which will give, hope to the fans “We’ve certainly made it tough for ourselves – but not impossible.”
So our oldest and most experienced have spoken out and believe that those fans should be offering more than the boos that were heard at the weekend. Maybe it’s becoming a case of respecting your youngsters.
