Newcastle United have completed the signing of Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert.

As expected, Patrick Kluivert was unveiled as a new signing today.

It is understood that Kluivert has signed a deal which will keep him at the club for 3 years - NOT the one-year loan that was first thought.

Where will Kluivert fit in though?  Many fans would like to see Shearer and Kluivert play upfront, with Bellamy playing just behind them, but can you really see Sir Bobby giving that a go?  I can't!

Speaking about his move to Newcastle, Kluivert said:

"It's a great club with great players and I hope I can fit in. I hope in the year that's coming they are going to be in the Champions League. It's an honour to play for such a passionate audience. I was never concerned (about the delay in the deal). This is a place I want to be. I know a lot about him (Shearer), playing with him will be fantastic."

Newcastle manager Bobby Robson told a news conference:

"I've known Patrick for many years...he's a player of immense experience and great stature. He's played for the top clubs in his career. I think he's got the best years of his career ahead of him."

Oh yea, Kluivert will be given the Number 11 shirt!

Also, as a little bonus, several fans have tried to write poems and chants for Kluivert's arrival!
