Newcastle United Chiefs have denied any talk of extending Newcastle winger Laurent Robert's contract until his proves he is worth it.

Robert had been suggesting that he was in talks with Newcastle over a contract which would see an extra two or three years added to his current contract which already has two years left on it.

"We are negotiating an extension to my contract of two or three years."

However Newcastle have rubbished such stories and have made it clear the 29 year old will have to earn an extension.

"There are no negotiations with Laurent Robert and if he wants to negotiate a new deal he will have to show us he is worth it."

Unfortunately although Robert has the ability he seems to lack the commitment and often has lazy days, which cause rumours to fly and fans to feel frustrated at his lack of participation.
