Newcastle Uniteds second keeper Steve Harper has spoken about the strict code of conduct set in a bid to curb the outbreak of conjunctivitis.

“We were told not to change our shirts after the Celtic friendly.

The doctor has said a couple of us might be carrying it now - the incubation period is five or six days and we might develop it over the next few days.

We've all been given a list of dos and don'ts - when we come in on Monday players are not allowed into the building together.

We've got four people out at the moment and who knows if another four people have got it."

With Harper the only senior keeper not to have become a victim of the infection Saturdays game is in his hands. Should he also be struck down then Newcastle hope that their plea's for a postponement will be heard.

Newcastle United now has five players who have contracted the infection with Robert being the latest player added to the list.
