Gazza: Give Shearer A Go

former Newcastle United ace Paul Gascoigne would like to see Alan Shearer take up the vacant managerial position at St James' Park. Shearer has been tipped to become manager after Robson for some time now, and following Robson's recent dismissal, the talks are starting again.

Speaking to Radio Five Live, Gazza said:

"Personally, I'd go for Alan Shearer.

"Give the lad a go, he knows the game, I've seen him on TV talking about it.

"The fans would be patient with Alan, he could get the grounding right and I think in a couple of years Alan could be a top-class manager, especially at Newcastle United.''

But do the fans want Shearer to take over straight away, and does Shearer himself want to go straight from an equal player to their bosses?  If it is decided that Shearer isn't the right man for the job, then could Terry Venables be an option?

Gazza added:

"For me, if Venables does come in then Shearer could work from Venables and then when Venables has had enough, perhaps then go for Shearer.

"They are two great lads and Venables has been an unbelievable manager, but if he is not in the running, then give it to Alan Shearer.''

Who do YOU want to see appointed?
