Graeme Souness appears to finally be doing what others haven’t. Moving out of Roberts’s way to let him leave.

Robert has repeatedly hit the press with his constant moaning and reports of being linked to clubs in Europe – many unconfirmed.

He has now accused Souness of leading him to believe he would be playing every game and not warming the bench.

"The first time the manager talked to me he said I am on the bench away, but at home I will play every game

He changed the decision. For me, that's not very good. Now I don't know the reason why. I am not happy that I did not play.

I don't really know if the chairman or manager like me.

I have been at Newcastle for four seasons now and I would prefer to stay here and play football.

I have helped the team get into the Champions League and Uefa Cup. We are a big team, with a big stadium and great fans. For me, my head is 100 percent Newcastle."

Robert has warmed the bench for 8 our of 9 matches since Souness arrived as Newcastle manager, and seems to think that a few good games warrants his time of a permanent place on the pitch.

It seems this may be one outburst too many for the management and Robert may have his wish granted and play for one of the many teams chasing after his talent.
