Souness has been linked with several players in recent weeks and seems set to make some signings whilst the transfer window is open in just 6 weeks time.

He was first scouted by Newcastle nearly 2 years ago when Bobby Robson was in charge, but having developed his career and is now a regular in the welsh international team.

A Cardiff spokesperson said

"Newcastle United have been watching Daniel on a number of occasions, but we do not know whether they are going to make a bid in January and he has not indicated to us that he wants to leave."

Since Jonathon Woodgate left for Real Madrid Newcastle’s defence has been lacking somewhat and Souness really needs to bring in a quality defender.
