Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has rejected recent speculation linking him with a move to St James' Park. Giggs, aged 31, still has a year and a half remaining on his current contract.
Manchester United offered him a year extension, but the player rejected it, sparking speculation that the Welsh man was looking for a future elsewhere, but Giggs wants more than a year extension.
The reports claimed that the Magpies' were going to make a £4 million bid in January for the winger, but Giggs said:
"I saw a story saying they [Newcastle] were going to try and sign me in January, but it's 100 percent speculation.
"I didn't see any quotes. The rumours are because I am in talks with United."
Newcastle United boss Graemw Souness added:
"There's no truth in that story. He's not going to stop us conceding goals!"
