Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness speaks about Kieron Dyer, stating that "it would be a tragedy if he was allowed to leave the club". Dyer, who is still resented by sections of the St James' Park crowd, has been linked with a move away from the club, but Souness isn't having any of it.

SOUNESS SAID:

“I think it would be a tragedy if he was allowed to leave the club.

"I know he's upset some supporters here and I can understand that because you must want to play for this club no matter what position the manager wants you to play.

"I understand why some supporters are a wee bit unhappy with him but I think he's learnt from that. He loves this club and wants to be here. There are not many Kieron Dyers around and we have to hold on to people like that.

"I hope he is starting to win them over. He is going to have to come out and ask for a second chance. I'll support him on that. Kieron has been the perfect pro for me. He's worked hard for me every day in training and he's given me everything and I've no complaints about Kieron."
