The Football Association have charged Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness for improper conduct - the Scot has been fined £10,000 and been given a one-match touchline ban - due to an incident involving referee Howard Webb.

At the time, Souness was sent to the stands during the Magpies' defeat to Fulham after an outburt at the referee, but requested a personal hearing over the matter.

Souness changed his mind and pleaded guilty to the offence, and will now watch Newcastle's game against WBA on January 3 from the stands.

The FA.com reported: At a Disciplinary Commission hearing held on Friday 10 December, Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness received a one-match touchline ban and a £10,000 fine.

Souness was charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 for improper conduct after being sent from the dug-out by referee Howard Webb during the match against Fulham on 7 November. The suspension will come into effect on 3 January 2005.
