Toon Defender Robbie Elliot has told Newcastle that they will no longer be the Premierships ‘entertainers’.

Elliot was one of the defenders who put an embarrassing display on in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool lat Sunday.

He believes that they team need to take a reality check and that they need to start fighting.

Elliot said:

"Now is the time to start fighting for Newcastle United.”

"It's not a time for the attacking, fantasy football which we've seen in the past.”

"We know that we're in a position where we will have to grind out results and give up the good stuff.”

"Whatever it takes we have to turn the tables. Somehow we have to rediscover our confidence."

Elliot revealed that after the Liverpool game the team identified all the problems without any sugar-coating.

He said:

“After the Liverpool match we had a good talk in the dressing room and people are seeing things more clearly now. We understand what has to be done.”

"Chelsea and Liverpool away are always tough fixtures at whatever time of year. Those games didn't come at the best of times but they're gone and we must look forward.”

"Blackburn is suddenly a critical fixture. It was always a huge game for the manager, but it's a massive match for all of the players at this club. Now, more than ever, we need to take three points.”

"We don't have to wait long to put the last week right. We want to get out there at Ewood Park as soon as possible."
