Not got your tickets for this weekend's home game against Coventry in the FA Cup? Want to sing and help generate a better atmosphere at St James' Park? If so, then why not join the "Toon Ultras" in Sir John Hall, Level 7? For more information, please read on...
Toon Ultras
First thing's first, what is an ultra group? An ultra group is a large fan based community devised to bring hostile atmosphere to matches throughout 90 minutes of football, using flags and banners at home and away matches. Most of ultra groups are Italian based but the trend has swept through the UK and clubs such as Aberdeen, Leeds United, and even Accrington Stanley have started their own ultra group community.
Now that you have a brief background info on an ultra group, let me introduce you to Newcastle United's very own; Toon Ultras. Yes, Newcastle United now have an ultra group, but with a slight twist... you see, Toon Ultras are not hooligans like most ultra groups in Italy, and possibly even in England, but we don’t travel half the length of England and pay £40 for a shoddy away ticket (yet), we stay at St. James' Park, hoping to bring back that long lost atmosphere that could once be heard from miles away. Hence the fact some of you might have twisted that we may be using banners and waving ridiculous looking chequered flags around the stadium, but whatever happened to the 'Never Say Die Attitude' at home games? But don't worry. We won't be scattered all over St. James', we will be grouped together in Sir John Hall Level 7, near the away fans chanting our hearts of for the lads at all cup games and if we could get something sorted with the club premiership games aswell.
Most ultra groups charge you for membership but Toon Ultras doesn't. Why? Because we think it's inappropriate to charge fans to have a good time at their own stadium whilst having a laugh and creating friends in this small hostile community, it's just not acceptable.
But we cannot stress enough that we are not hooligans that attend matches for a punch up after the match with away fans, we aren't the sort. To find out more information on us you can visit our website and join the forum and get chatting to the lads online.
We already have some well known website publishers signed up for Toon Ultras and that has certainly boosted our popularity.
Please join us online for free were you can find out more information and help us spread across the North East.
