The latest on the Bellamy problem is a move from Pompey hoping to take him to Portsmouth for the rest of the season on loan.

Pompey are having a few problems of their own at the moment with Harry Redknapp leaving and several players following him out of Fratton Park.

Chairman Mandaric said

"He is a great player and we've expressed our desire to take him on loan with a view to a full transfer. But we're not there with it just yet. Newcastle have not replied to our approach.

As far as we're concerned this is not a deal conditional on Yakubu moving anywhere. He's not leaving and that makes us very happy."

Whilst stating very clearly that Yakubu will not be leaving the southern club having been linked with others including Newcastle.

Blackburn Rovers are also hot on the heels of out of favour Bellamy.

Chief Executive John Williams said

"If there is an opportunity to bring in a striker on loan before the transfer window shuts then that is something Mark would be interested in doing."

It has also been said that Kevin Keegan may be looking into taking Bellamy to Manchester City having had just Anelka.

And Liverpool have according to today’s papers been showing an interest in buying Craig for a sum of 4-5M.
