Celtic, Mallorca, Valencia, Deportivo La Coruna and a number of English clubs all made advances for Newcastle winger Laurent Robert in January, but the French midfielder says he wants to extend his contract at St James' Park.

Quoted on Sky Sports News, Laurent Robert said:

"Majorca, Valencia and La Coruna were attracted.

"In Scotland, Celtic also asked for information. And there were several English clubs.

"But I would love to prolong my stay here. I hope the officials will propose something interesting to me.

"If the club doesn't offer me anything, I will leave next summer."
