Newcastle boss Graham Souness has admitted that Tottenham were the better team in the Magpies 1-0 victory over them.

Newcastle were delighted to be in the final four of the FA Cup after beating Spurs 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Patrick Kluivert.

Souness, though delighted, had to admit that Spurs were the better team on the day.

Souness said:

"Tottenham were better than us for the majority of the game. But we dug deep and we held on when the going was rough. I don't think two months ago we would have won that game. The players should be very proud.

"Tottenham looked sharper all over the park. We're grateful for playing well in the first 15 minutes but after that Tottenham took over the game.

"They'll feel lady luck was not with them. But we've carried our luck and we're delighted to be in the semi-final."
