Newcastle United striker Patrick Kluivert appears to have closed the door on international football. The 28-year-old stated: "To be honest, if I was called up I do not think that I would go".

Speaking to THE JOURNAL, Patrick Kluivert said:

"To be honest, if I was called up I do not think that I would go.

"It does not bother me if I am called up or not. That chapter in my life is probably closed.

"All I care about is Newcastle United and doing well for Newcastle.

"I am desperate to stay here because I am enjoying my football and I am very happy on and off the pitch."

The Dutchman scored early winners in both of Newcastle United's FA Cup home victories over Chelsea and Tottenham.
