Chopra’s Plea

Newcastle-born Micheal Chopra has made a plea to Graham Souness to let him have a chance at the top level.

Chopra, 21, has only made 11 appearances for Newcastle since 2001, but had a storming season on-loan at Barnsley where he knocked in no less than 17 goals.

Chopra, who attended the same school as Alan Shearer, is keen to prove he can do the same at Premiership level, and he may be needed as with Craig Bellamy set to leave and Kluivert already gone, Newcastle are left with 3 strikers: Shearer, Ameobi and Chopra.

Chopra said:

"I have always had confidence in my ability and I know I can score goals at this club,"

"I proved in the academy and the reserves I am a goalscorer.

"I have proved that with
Watford and with Barnsley. I am confident of my ability in the Premiership, and if I am given the opportunity, I am sure I will be able to score goals."
