Reports from Argentina suggest Newcastle are in the process of trying to sign a new goalkeeper.

The media in Argentina report that the Magpies have offered £1.7 million for River Plate goalkeeper German Lux.

Lux will be wanted as a reserve for Irishman, Shay Given, who has made over 300 appearances for Newcastle.

The 23-year-old River Plate star is not first choice at the moment and may seek a move away.
