Paper talk linking Jermaine Jenas with a future away from St James' Park will nto affect the England midfielder, says Toon boss Graeme Souness. Jenas has been linked with a move to Highbury, but Jenas appears to be keeping his cool.

Graeme Souness told the clubs official website: "You'll have to ask him how the speculation is affecting him, but from what I've seen of him I don't think it is.

"He is one of the best trainers we have got, he has been blessed by nature and is ridiculously fit. Training is easy for him.

"He is a tremendous professional, and I'm sure he will be properly focused and prepared by the time we play Arsenal in the first game of the season.

"JJ is one of the nucleus of players that we see as our future. We want to keep the players together for a long period, we have to do that if we are going to have any chance of building something here."
