Given: Stay Calm

Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given has told his team-mates to stay calm and play it patient tonight against Deportivo.

Newcastle have to overcome a 2-1 loss in Spain otherwise there will be no European football for the Magpies.

Given, like every Newcastle player, knows what they need to do, but told the team on the Official Site that they must be patient.

Given said:

“We know what we have to do,"

"One goal is enough for us to win it. We know we have the players in our side to get goals, but if that goal doesn't come until the 90th minute then so be it.

"We have to approach the game correctly; we cannot go all out from the start because we saw in the first leg that they have the players who can catch us on the break.

"It will be a tough game, there's no doubt about that.

"But hopefully we can turn it around and go through, because we all know what's at stake.

"We need to be playing European football, and this is a back door route into the UEFA Cup so we have to try and take advantage of it."
