Shearer for England Comeback?

There has been speculation that Alan Shearer, who retired from international football 4 and a half years ago, could come back.

The rumour is that if Shearer and Owen have a good partnership at Newcastle, then Shearer could come out of international retirement and have the same partnership upfront for England.

 

But England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson doubts the likeliness of this.

 

Sven said:

 

"You never know in football but I don't think so. Alan Shearer said no to England four-and-a-half years ago,"

 

"If we qualify, I don't think it would be right to take in another player who hadn't taken part in the last two tournaments if you don't have to do it because of a lot of injuries."
