New record signing Michael Owen looks forward to today's debut against Fulham - "I'm really looking forward to getting out there and playing."

MICHAEL OWEN:

"It seems a while ago now since I was introduced to the crowd here, and I'm really looking forward to getting out there and playing.

"It's also a while since I played in the Premiership, so I'm looking forward to getting back into that as well. It's a big game for us and we could really do with the three points.

"I didn't expect to get the chance to play alongside Alan again, but it's funny how things work out in football. I'm looking forward to teaming up with him again. We did well at international level and hopefully we can be a success for Newcastle.

"I will spend as much time as I can getting to know the lads over the next day or so, because obviously there isn't much time before the Fulham game.

"The feeling on Saturday will probably be more excitement than nerves to be honest, but like I've said I cannot wait for it now. I have had a lot of positive feedback since I made the move. Even the England lads were talking about the move, and saying how it will be a tremendous atmosphere on Saturday.

"It will be a big occasion for me, but the most important thing is to get the three points because we really need to kick on now."
