Nobby: All about the Team

Newcastle midfielder Norberto Solano has said that the £32 million strikeforce of Alan Shearer and Micheal Owen will play for the team against Liverpool on boxing day.

It is Owen’s first return to Anfield since leaving the club in 2004, and Shearer is just one goal away from equalling Jackie Milburn’s club record of 200 goals.

Solano, who has close to a Liverpool move himself last season, but opted for an Aston Villa move instead, insisted that the pair will not care who scores, as long as Newcastle take 3 points back up north.

Solano said:

"It will be strange for Michael because he was at Liverpool a long time, but everywhere we go, we want to win the game and Michael will play, like everybody else, to win the game. That's the most important thing.

"Everybody loves him at his old club, but Michael's pleasure is to score goals. He loves to be all the time the top scorer for his club.

"Alan will be looking forward to scoring that goal, but it's not about Alan or Michael scoring, we need to win. If we want to be in the top six or top four, it's very important to beat teams like
Liverpool and continue this run."
