Of all the new arrivals to St. James Park since the appointment of Graeme Souness, one man’s commitment cannot be called into question according to the fans of the club.

In a poll conducted on the Tyne Talk website, over half of the votes counted were for the former Charlton and Chelsea man in response to the question ‘Which Souness Signing Has Impressed You Most So Far?’

Steely determination shown throughout the season and especially in the recent game against Arsenal has already brought the player close to Toon fans hearts and made the murmurings of an England call up increase in volume.

His 56% of the vote beat Michael Owen and Emre into second and third place respectively, showing that no matter of previous reputations, class on the right stage shines through.

Final poll standings from 706 votes of 27th December 2005.

Parker 56%
Owen 22%
Emre 14%
Babayaro 2%
Boumsong 2%
Solano 2%
