"Individual mistakes have cost us. We conceded two goals through individuals not doing their jobs properly." - is the message from Toon boss Graeme Souness this afternoon following Newcastle United's 2-0 defeat away at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Magpies started out well, but Titus Bramble failed to intercept a Mido flick, allowing Spurs' Teemu Tainio to open the scoring just two minutes from time.
Then on the 66th minute, it was Mido himself who secured the points for the home side following poor play between Amady Faye and Celestine Babayaro.
After the game, Graeme Souness said: "The idea was to frustrate the crowd and we were doing that, but then we gave away a very, very poor goal at a very, very bad time and that changed the complexion of the game.
"If we had kept it at 0-0 at half-time we felt we could have had a chance.
"We had opportunities to clear the ball before the second goal, but we didn't and we got punished.
"Individual mistakes have cost us. We conceded two goals through individuals not doing their jobs properly."
