Al: I'd Rather Take 3 Points Than Break The Record

Speaking to a pre-match press conference today, Newcastle United skipper Alan Shearer reveals how his side picking up three points against his former club Blackburn Rovers is more important to him than breaking Jackie Milburn's goalscoring record.
Quotes on the official website from Shearer: "You can talk about the record, but I'm not going to talk about it today.
"If it happens, or when it happens, then I will quite happily talk about it but beforehand it is far more important to talk about getting three points.
"This is a vital game for us. We badly need the points."
Toon boss Graeme Souness however, added: "It would be nice if he was to break the record with a goal that was to win a game.
"No goal is meaningless, of course, but it would be nice if his goal was a significant one.
"He equalled the record in the FA Cup in our last game at St. James' Park, and it would be nice for him to break it with a winner against one of his former clubs."
Shearer continued: "Blackburn will be a tough game for us, they set their stall out and are very tough to beat.
"They have had some very good results of late, and I'm sure Mark Hughes will have them determined and focused to come up here and try and get the points.
"I think Blackburn have done very well. I'm a big fan of Mark Hughes, I certainly was as a player and he has taken that style into management.
"I think they have had a lot of criticism, which is undeserved in my opinion, for the way they play the game, but they have done very well and are climbing up the league.
"They will be confident of maybe snatching a place for Europe, and it's up to us tomorrow to try and thwart that.
"He knows we are struggling with injuries, which is a fact, but we have just got to get on with it.
