Caretaker boss Glenn Roeder and Newcastle United midfielder Albert Luque have held discussions over the the Spaniards Tyneside future.
Following his £10 million move in the summer from Deportivo La Coruna, the 27-year-old Spanish international has perhaps failed to show Toon fans just what he is capable of.
Sections of the St James' Park crowd were quick to boo Luque, who has only played several games for the Magpies' since his move, having suffered from injury. However, many others - such as the majority of this site, have been prepared to give the player a chance to settle down, and are confident that he will shine in the near future.
Luque was reportedly upset at being left out of the side that defeated Portsmouth on Saturday - and was granted permission to go home, instead of sit through the game.
Talks were held with Glenn Roeder however, and it appears that Luque has reassured of his long-term future on Tyneside..
Roeder: "He's fine. We sat down and had a chat after training and it was good for me and good for Albert. It was a private chat, but a good chat. He told me his views on a few things, which was good.
"I don't know how long I will be here for, but while I am here I have to be able to work with the players in the best way possible way, and the best approach in most cases is to sit down and talk.
"I have seen him play since he signed in the summer and I have seen him playing in Spain for Real Mallorca. We also know what he is capable of from what he does in training.
"He is a typical Spanish player, very skilful. His English continues to improve and now we have to find a way of getting the best out of him."
