Player ratings from this weekend's match against Everton at St James' Park, provided by Wiley.
Shay Given - Had nothing to do , Good save in the first half to deny Arteta , Otherwise he tormented McFadden with his tricks ;) - 7/10
Peter Ramage - Covered every part of the grass , saved us in the first with a great goaline clearance , played a good part in going forward too - 8/10
Jean Alean Boumsong - Calm,Controlled and overall handled the pressure fine , No more blunders and looked very comfortable with Robbie Elliot in the middle of defence - 7/10
Robbie Elliot - Like Boumsong , He was calm and controlled and looked fine in the centre of defence , no problems - 7/10
Celestine Babayaro - Good to see him back , we needed him today , linked up well down the left with N'zogbia , an overall complete performance by Baba!! - 7.5/10
Nobby Solano - MOTM - Midweek he said we needed to take out chances and he has been in the right place at the right time twice tonight and his overall contribution was fantastic and his 2nd goal was goal of the month by far , what an amazing strike and deserved aswell - 9/10
Scott Parker - Usual solid performance , did well with the passing and moving in midfield , it was great to watch us when we have no pressure , we pass the ball freely and confidently and he was at the centre of that , good show!! - 7.5/10
Belezoglu Emre - Again , got involved in the great passing in the midfield and his tricks are a joy to watch week in week out and I am happy to see him at his best and fit again , his corners and deliveries were top notch and he deserved a standing ovation when he went off for clark at the end. - 8/10
Charles N'zogbia - Had a quiet first half , but came to life in the second half with great movement down the left with Baba and his run and setup for Nobby for his first goal was great and it was quite similar to the setup he gave Dyer against Southampton , He is really coming and turning into a brilliant player for us - 7.5/10
Lee Bowyer - Played well , looked most likely to score in the first half worked hard , gave 100% , can't ask for anymore than that , well worth a starting XI place by all means - 7/10
Shola Ameobi - I think when he hurt his hip on the Everton Goal post affected his game , after that he didn't seem to move very well , he tried his hardest but i think he hurt himself early on so that blew him for the game i think , Alan Shearer's replacement? F#ck that , I think this guy should audittion for a place to play Mary Poppins at the theatre , If he was injured at HT i don't know why he didn't tell Roeder FFS cos he was poor in the 2nd half - 6/10
SUBS:
Lee Clark - slotted into the centre of midfield well , no problems - N/A
Matty Pattison - don't think he touched it - N/A
Defence Overall - Strong , calm and controlled , I dunno how many times i have used them words , but it can't be truer , they played well and always looked in control - 8/10
Midfield Overall - Tormented Everton in the end really , passing and moving was great , clearly worked on in training and controlled the middle of the park for the game , well happy with them - 8/10
Attack Overall - Ameobi was poor but i think the attacking football in general was great , "The Entertainers" plaed tonight - 8/10
Glenn Roeder - Maybe should have bought Mary Poppins off at Half-time as i think he f#cked his hip quite early on , Dunno what the Luque situation was but i aint gonna let that get in the way of a great display , but otherwise , Thumbs Up , but i think the credit deserved to go to the players today :D - 7/10
