Newcastle United caretaker boss Glenn Roeder has said that he is looking forward to seeing Steven Taylor return.

The young centre-half has been out for months with a dislocated shoulder, leaving Newcastle’s back four looking very shaky.

But Roeder revealed that the Geordie is making good progess.

Roeder said:

"We accept there could be a school of thought saying why risk young Taylor for the last two matches,”

”But we want him back and playing again so he goes into the closed-season having proved his fitness and with his confidence restored."
