Freedman Early Front Runner

It is understood that Dougie Freedman has emerged as one of the front runners from a shortlisted 34 possible candates for the job of Town manager.

Paul Jewell's 21 month tenure at Portman Road was finally brought to an end this morning by mutual consent after last night's 2-1 defeat to Derby County at Portman Road that leaves the club in bottom position int he Npower League Championship and already intense speculation is underway on who the new boss may be.

Freedman's situation is itself unclear, with the former striker turned manager confirmed to have joined Bolton Wanderers as manager on Tuesday by Cyrstal Palace, only for Bolton to reveal last night that no such deal had been agreed and the talks between the two parties were still ongoing.

It is however understood that Town have made contact with the Scotsman today to sound out a possible switch to take over at Town in the near future. It remains to be seen if anything shall come of such contact however.
