Hutchings Departs Town

Ipswich Town caretaker manager Chris Hutchings has this morning left the club by mutual consent following the appointment of Mick McCarthy as new Town boss.

Hutchings was originally assistant manager to Paul Jewell before the parting by mutual consent of the former Wigan, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County manager last week, stepping up to the role of caretaker boss following the dismissal of his long time friend.

With McCarthy now appointed as new Town manager and bringing in his own assistant in Terry Connor, it has meant that Hutchings is no longer required at the club and therefore both parties have agreed to his departure by mutual consent.

In a statement through ITFC.co.uk, Hutchings sent his best wishes to the club and new management team:  “I’ve enjoying working for this fantastic football club over the last 20 months.

"I’d like to wish the owner, the players and all the staff the very best of fortunes for the future. I’d also like to wish Mick and Terry the best of luck at Portman Road.”

In addition, Town chief executive Simon Clegg passed on his best wishes:  “I’d like to thank Chris for his outstanding services to Ipswich Town and wish him well for the future.”
