Campbell Disappointed to Sign off With Defeat

Town striker DJ Campbell has admitted he was disappointed to finish his Town loan spell with a 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion this afternoon. 

Whilst Campbell's loan is officially up after the FA Cup Third round tie with Aston Villa it's understood that parent club QPR have requested that he does not play in the match to avoid the player being cup-tied and therefore the player has played his last game of his spell.

Campbell has performed exceptionally well for Town since joining from Queens Park Rangers in early October, netting 10 goals in 17 league games for the club and Town boss Mick McCarthy has already admitted he will try to see if a deal could be done to sign the player up on full terms.

Speaking to the Official Club Site about today's game, Town's number five said: "It’s disappointing to lose the game today and it’s not the way I wanted to go out.

"We’ve had a good festive period and to take seven points over the four games is a decent return, especially when you consider we only had seven points when Mick came in.

“Obviously I wanted to win and it would have been nice to get the three points and score a couple of goals in my last game but it wasn’t to be today.”
