Wide midfielder or forward who signed for Town from Peterborough United at the end of the August 2012 transfer window for a fee that could rist to a reported £1.75m.
As a youth team player, Taylor represented Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City before signing his first professional contract with Football Conference North side Vauxhall Motors in 2007.
Taylor scored 17 goals in the 2007/2008 season for the Motormen, before joining Chester City on loan from July 2008 to January 2009 the following season with a view to a full move. Taylor appeared 9 times for Chester, but was unable to score a goal and was allowed to return back to Vauxhall early in October 2008.
Shortly after returning fom Chester, it was revealed in the media that Liverpool born Taylor had failed a drugs test and was given a six month ban, which saw the player leave Vauxhall. Upon completing the handed out ban, Taylor signed for Belgian Fifth division side Montegnée scoring 13 times in 18 games, leading to attention from larger clubs.
Speculation over Taylor signing for a higher division club ended when the player signed for Belgian giants Anderlecht in December 2009. The Scouser however never appeared in the Purple and White of his new club, and was loaned out to Charleroi for a period, but failed to find the target in 10 games.
Taylor's next move was to sign for East Anglian side Peterborough United on an 18 month deal in February 2011. After beoming an integral part of the squad at the Posh in his first season at London Road, rumours began to circulate at a possible move to a bigger club. Such speculation was boosted by the fact that Taylor turned down a four year deal in April 2012 and was subsquently transfer listed by the club.
Following days of speculation and discussions about a possible transfer for Taylor and team-mate George Boyd to Town, Taylor was confirmed as an Ipswich player on the 30th August 2012. Taylor suffered a serious foot injury in just his third match for Town, and now the player is expected to miss the rest of the 2012/2013 campaign.
