DJ Could Still Return to Portman Road

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy says that he still may be able to sign DJ Campbell on a full deal, despite having added two loan strikers to the squad in the last few days.

The marksman returned to parent club QPR following the last game of his loan spell, which was the 3-0 defeat at home to Brighton on New Years Day having scored 17 goals 10 games and represented his side against West Brom in the Third Round of the cup this afternoon.

Both manager Mick McCarthy and the player himself stated they would consider the chances of signing the player on a full contract and it seems for Town, little has changed despite the loan signings of Aaron McLean and David McGoldrick on loan in the last few days.

Speaking after the FA Cup Clash with Aston Villa that took place on Saturday, McCarthy admitted: “We’re still trying to do a permanent deal with DJ. He’s played against West Brom today though. I’ve wished him well and said we’d still like to sign him. We’ll see what happens.”
