Town skipper Carlos Edwards has signed a new contract with the club which will keep him at Portman Road until the end of the 2013/2014 season.

The Trinidad and Tobago international player joined Town from Sunderland at the start of the 2009/10 season to be reunited with the then Town boss Roy Keane who he played for during his time at the Black Cats.

Edwards started off at Portman Road as a midfielder but increasingly over the past few years has played a number of games at right back, especially under Paul Jewell and has missed very few games since joining the club, leading him to clock up over 150 matches between signing in the summer of 2009 and the start of the 2012/2013 season.

The 34 year old was appointed captain of the club in March 2012 and picked up the Players' Player of the Year award for the 2011/2012 season.
