Ellington Has Contract Terminated

Ipswich Town and Nathan Ellington have confirmed that the two parties have parted ways by mutual consent to allow the player to seek first team football elsewhere.

The Duke has struggled to make an impact at Town, and failed to score in 17 games in his first season at the club (2011/2012). Having fallen further down the pecking order at the start of the present season, Ellington joined Scunthorpe on loan without making much of an impact and it is of no surprise that he has now been allowed to leave Town.

Confirming his departure from Portman Road, Ellington told the official club website yesterday afternoon: “It hasn’t really worked out for me at Ipswich for one reason or another but I wish the Club all the best for the future.

“Mick McCarthy is a terrific manager and treats you with respect. He has been great to me since he arrived at the Club and Ipswich are in good hands with him in charge. It’s a terrific football club but it’s the right decision for me to move on. I still want to carry on playing and have already started looking for a new club.”
