Town Set for Friendly in Dublin

Ipswich Town have confirmed they will play a friendly against Republic of Ireland side Shelbourne in the build-up to the 2013/2014 Championship season.
The game against the Dublin based side will take place on Saturday 6th July at Tolka Park, home ground of the League of Ireland Premier Division club and will round off a Tour to the Irish Republic during the forthcoming pre-season campaign.
Town boss Mick McCarthy told the Official Club Website his reasons behind the trip: “In the past I’ve taken teams to Carton House in Kildare, Ireland and spent the week there and that has worked out really well. It’s a great venue with fantastic facilities. The players can work hard there but we can also enjoy ourselves and have a bit of banter.
“It’s not so much a tour because we’ll just play the one game at the end of the week but it’s a chance for the players to work in a great environment and bond over the week. Being away together also gives any new players we have the opportunity to settle in.”
Fans wishing to travel to the game in Dublin should know that Ryanair, Aer Lingus and British Airways service the city from the UK with flights from almost all UK airports with London alone offering approx 20 flights a day to the Irish capital meaning following the game should be very easy for any fans who wish to travel to it.
The Tolka Park stadium is located just outside the city center in the Drumcondra district. Local bus route 16 from the airport serves the surrounding area for €2.40 single (exact fare only), whilst those wishing to travel in style would be best advised to travel using the 24 hour Aircoach luxury Coach service that operates 24 hours a day for €6 single or €10 return that runs non stop from the airport to Drumcondra.
