It proved to be a 'hazardous' expedition to west London for Maribor as the hosts lived up to their top European billing and reinforced their credentials as possible champions of the Champions League. It was good that Ake, Cech, Drogba, Filipe Luis, and young debutant Dominic Solanke all got valuable game time. It was equally good that Loic Remy doubled his goals account for the Blues while Didier Drogba made a welcome return to scoring ways, albeit from the penalty spot. The icing on the cake was a comfortable clean sheet, assisted by a missed second-half penalty from the hapless visitors.

 Now that Manchester wannabes is how you play in the Champions League. Ha!
