Exclusive - Is 'Wee Man' on his way back?

It is common knowledge that Paterson, 29, is out of contract after being at Doncaster Rovers since his release by Mark Lillis back in the summer of 2000.

Jamie Paterson has been a loyal servant to Halifax Town spending two spells at the club and is often seen at the Shay supporting the Shaymen when he does not have a match himself.

The 'Wee Man' is best played just behind the front two in a free role in which he can control the game and provide excellent service for the strikers. He also has a wicked shot on him and is almost guaranteed to get into double figures during the season.

He is a skilful player who is not scared about taking a player on. He has lost a bit of pace because of his troublesome groin, but I don't think there would be anybody who feels he could not do a job for Halifax Town in the Football Conference.

All that it seems is left to sort out is personal terms because obviously the club is in administration and so money is going to be tight, but the extra 100 fans that Paterson would draw back to the Shay would easily cover his wage.

I wonder what the chances are of bringing some of the other players back who played at Sundays game. Andy Thackeray could quite easily still do a good job for the club.
