News Round-Up

There are a number of articles that are of some interest in today's Yorkshire Sport.

The one of most importance to Town fans is the claim by Neil Redfearn that he has been led on by the club.

I think everyone will sympathise with the way that Redders has been treat by the club, but it still seems quite unclear about who is actually to blame for his treatment.

Bob Walker resigned as Chairman using the excuse that Peter O'Hara was not working in the best interests of the club. He also indicated that he was disgusted in the treatment of Redfearn.

O'Hara then hit back by saying it was in fact Bob Walker who was prepared to guarantee Redfearns contract which meant that O'Hara could not approve the appointment of the new manager.

O'Hara seems to contradict himself. At the last supporters club meeting, O'Hara himself said that he was the one stalling the appointment. He has also mentioned on a few occasions that he does not want to appoint a manager because it might put off any potential buyers of the club.

In today's Yorkshire Sport, Neil Redfearn speaks out. He explains how he bowed to almost every demand of the club in his contract. He said:

"I agreed four different deals and ended up settling for a month-by-month contract, but even that now appears to have been unacceptable to the administrators.

"The administrators haven't got the club's interests at heart.

"They are just there to make money. That's not their fault because they were invited into the club."

It seems that with the whole situation as it is, a return to the club for Graham Mitchell and Dave Worthington is now unlikely to happen. Redfearn wanted the two to be part of his backroom staff, and now with offers at other clubs, it seems Redfearn will take the two with him.

Bob Walker has insisted that he might just be back to Halifax Town as part of one of the consortiums that have shown an interest in the club.

There are three parties who have shown interest in saving the Shaymen and all three have said they would like Bob Walker to have a major involvement if they do take over.

Bob Walker has always stressed that he is willing to assist O'Hara in attracting a buyer for the club, but he felt he could no longer keep his position as Chairman at the Shay.

The final article in today's paper is about York City. Tomorrow they are announcing a major new signing. It is not a player but the appointment is in the position of Director of Football.

"The man is vastly experienced with a wide knowledge of the game." said York City communications officer Mark Bishop.

"He is also a former England International and will be given the title of Director of Football or Coach."

When Paul Bracewell left the club early on in the season, the rumours were high soon after that he was going to take over at York City.

Although now he is involved in the England International set-up although doing what I don't know, I would not be surprised if tomorrow Paul Bracewell is revealed as York City's Director of Football.
