We Catch Up With Neil Redfearn

It now seems months since Neil Redfearn gave up hope of being appointed full time manager at the Shay, but it is just over a month ago that he was resigned to the fact that the job offer was not going to come.

So what is the football journeyman up to at the moment?

Has he found a coaching job elsewhere? Has he decided to carry on playing at a lower level of football?

No, we found him selling the 'Big Issue' publication in his hometown of Holmfirth.

The 'Big Issue' is a news and current affairs magazine written by professional journalists and sold on the streets by homeless vendors. This just shows how times are now hard for Neil Redfearn who was one of the highest earners at the club.

We asked Neil to come along to Sid's Cafe for a cuppa and a chat about how things are going for him but he didn't have the time to take a break from selling the 'Big Issue'. The cast of the 'Last Of The Summer Wine' were in Town for the day to do some filming for a forthcoming series and so he wanted to try and get some trade from some of the waiting crowds.

After spending a few seasons in the league of riches with Barnsley, Bradford, and Charlton, he has now taken a turn for the worse which has seen his income relying on the sales of the 'Big Issue'.
