Who are Leeds Ladies FC?

Leeds Ladies FC are the newest branch of ladies football in Leeds. Formerly Leeds United Ladies Football Club, the club lost funding from the men's team at the end of the 2013-14 season leading to the rebranding of the club and the adoption of the nickname, The Phoenix.

The club currently play in the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division One, and finished a very credible 3rd position following a 7-match winning streak towards the end of the season finishing just 6 points behind champions Guiseley AFC Vixens in what is their first season under the current name.

'The Phoenix Rises' is the current club motto as the girls aim to build the club up to the Women's Super League status following a failed application bid in 2014 that was followed by the withdrawal of funding from Leeds United. Leeds Ladies Football Club was created out of the ashes of the former club by a group of supporters to maintain the tradition of ladies football in the city.

The current manager is Gareth Lee, and club captain is Emma Bentley. The girls normally play their home games at Manse Lane in Knaresborough but occasionally play in Batley.
