Stirling Albion 3 Shire 0

Yesterday’s 3-0 defeat at Forthbank means East Stirlingshire have now lost twenty of their thirty-one fixtures to date. Five of those defeats have come in the last five matches and Shire now find themselves ten points adrift of second bottom Montrose with just fifteen points left to play for.

Stirling Albion took the lead in the seventeenth minute when Lewis McLear picked out Moses Olanrewaju and the winger sent his strong right-footed shot into the top-right corner beyond Shire’s Darren Dolan.

Shire began the second half brightly but Darren Smith’s sixty-third minute goal made it an uphill struggle for the visitors.

The scoring was completed in the eighty-eighth minute when Albion’s Phil Johnston gathered a pass from Ross Forsyth before firing a low shot into the net.

After the match East Stirlingshire coach George Shaw said: “Stirling Albion were the better team in the first half but I thought we were the better side in the second half. People will look at the result and think we have had a hiding but that’s not the case but we didn’t take our chances and their keeper has had a couple of great saves.”
