East Stirlingshire’s goal-less home draw with Berwick Rangers yesterday provided Shire’s first point from six matches but it means they are now ten points behind second bottom Arbroath and third bottom Montrose, with twelve points left to play for.
The visitors had the best chance to get on the scoresheet in the opening exchanges but home keeper Darren Dolan kept out a Darren Lavery close-range effort that was heading for the bottom corner.
At the other end, East Stirlingshire’s John Fraser sent a shot wide and Ross Fisher's header missed the target before Blair Henderson came close with two chances for the Borderers.
Berwick’s Darren Lavery again came close to giving the visitors the lead shortly after the break but his long-range effort was wide then a header from team-mate Jonathon Fairbairn went over the bar.
The Shire had later chances to break the deadlock through Michael McMullin and Kris Faulds but it remained 0-0.
