Chairman Reveals Plan

Town chairman David Sheepshanks has set the club a target of promotion within the three years.

Mr Sheepshanks: “All things being equal, I confidently predict that Jim Magilton and Bryan Klug will lead this Club back to the Premiership within the next three years and maybe sooner.

“It is quite clear that Jim and Bryan's brand of football is to be competitive, attacking and entertaining - and where possible to include wingers! What joy!

“Apart from West Bromwich Albion and to a much lesser extent perhaps Southampton, teams with a massive financial advantage over us, I have not seen a team outplay us this season.

“We may see it as a tough ask but I know that Jim is still focussed on achieving the Play-Offs this season - although, as previously, we have prudently not budgeted for anymore than mid-table this season.

“Whether we make it this year will not determine Jim's future. We may have to ride one or two more disappointments amongst successes but that is part of setting our stall out for the long term but I have total belief that with the fans' support Jim and Bryan and their staff will deliver, given time.

“Football wise, we may not be quite where we want to be in the League table as yet - however, by and large, the performances have been better than some of the results.

“We can see what Jim is trying to achieve and once he establishes the settled side he wants, (with the benefit of added signings in January) I have no doubt we will climb the table.”
