Oxford 1-5 Ipswich
Ipswich Towns strike force finally showed what it was capable of last night scoring 5 against oxford united at the Kassam Stadium.
Tommy Miller scored two, Darren Bent, Pablo Couñago and Jim Magilton got the other four.
Despite going behind after just 8 minutes because of Steve Basham’s goal for the opening side Town didn’t panic and go for a quick fix all out attack they bided there time and waited for the right moment which came after 25 minutes.
Jim Magilton’s free kick being buried into the back of the net from 20 yards by Tommy Miller.
Inside the space of 5 minutes town found them selves in the lead, Tommy Miller was bought down in the box and awarded a penalty which he converted from the spot.
Town went in at half time 2-1 up and just after the restart made it 3-1, Darren found the extra pace to break toward the Oxford goal and coolly converted.
Ian Westlake’s cross found Pablo Couñago, who has so far been out of sorts looks to have found the goal scoring touch firing home from the 18 yards.
Former Oxford captain Jim Magilton rounded off the rout tapping in Dean Bowditch’s cross in the final moments.
