Ipswich town could clock up their seven hundredth home league win with a victory against Cardiff City on Saturday.

Town have played 1,271 home league fixtures since being admitted into the football league in 1938, and so far have won 699 of them, lost 293 and drawn 273 times in the 76 years since.

However if you include Ipswich AFC’s record town are probably closer to the 1000 home wins mark.

Towns longest serving player, Richard Naylor has said that: “Home wins are essential if we are going to be up there challenging for promotion again this season.

“If we win the bulk of our home games and nick points on our travels, the very least we will achieve is another play-off place.”.
