Ipswich Town can return to the top of the coca cola football league Championship if they defeat Reading at Portman road this evening.
Ipswich manager Joe Royle celebrates his 1000th game as a football manager tonight and he would like to celebrate it with a win over Reading but he will have to do it with out the suspended Fabian Wilnis who is likely to be replaced by Matt Richards at left back, Ian Westlake and Shefki Kuqi are expected to replace Tony Dinning and Pablo Couñago respectively.
Speaking ahead of the game Royle has said: “Reading have good players and a
top manager.
“Steve is one of the quieter managers who just gets on with
it. He does a great job wherever he goes on little or no budget and I'm not at
all surprised at how well they are doing. My pre-season tips were Wigan and
Reading and I'm doing a little too well because they are where I want us to
be.
“It is a great chance for us to go top, but we will have to play better than
on Saturday.
“That said, when we have been asked questions we have found
answers here at Portman Road.”.
Reading manager Steve Coppell has Glen Little fit again but its unlikely he’ll play after a lengthy lay off with a hamstring injury.
Speaking ahead of the game Coppell has said: “I don't suppose they will close
the league now so it doesn't make a great deal of difference that we are top at
the moment.
“After going two down and losing a man, to come back and beat
Plymouth they way they did Ipswich must be feeling as high as a kite, so it will
be a real rest for us.
“They have a large number of skilful players and
score a lot of goals.
“They may concede a lot of goals but Joe (Royle)
will not be concerned about that as he knows they will always score goals.”.
