Ipswich Town midfielder Ian Westlake believes he was right to turn down the chance to play for the England under 21 side in order to concentrate on Town.

The 20 year old midfielder decided to stay in Ipswich rather than go with England to play Wales and Azerbaijan earlier in the month because he felt he was out of form but after now scoring twice in two games he feels that he made the right choice.

Westlake: “I do feel the decision has been vindicated. Some people gave me a bit of stick for not going with England but I knew I was not playing at my best.

“I needed to stay at Ipswich and focus on regaining my form. I'm glad I did because I have felt much like my old self in the last couple of games.”
