Ipswich Town will be hoping to close the gap on the top two in the league with a win against Preston North End at Portman Road.

Ipswich Town will be hoping to close the gap on the top two in the league with a win against Preston North End.

Joe Royle has only one injury concern ahead of the game, goalkeeper Kelvin Davis still out with a back injury so Lewis Price will continue in goal and Shane Supple on the bench.

Ahead of the game Joe Royle has said: no thoughts from Joe Royle available at time of going to press, sorry for any inconvenience.

Preston manager Billy Davies will be without striker David Healy who joined Leeds United yesterday, goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is out for around three months, Callum Davidson also out there is doubts over Claude Davis and Marlon Broomes.

Speaking ahead of the game Preston boss Billy Davies has said: “We will hopefully have Eddie Lewis back from suspension and Sungu and John Curtis will be available again having been Cup tied for Wednesday night. We are also hoping Marlon Broomes will be fit again, but Claude Davis is a serious doubt with a groin strain.

“We've lost David (Healy) as well, so we only have about 17 players to take with us with Andy Lonergan and Callum Davidson definitely ruled out and a couple of the others very doubtful.

“They've had a break, but footballers like to play games, we'll be up for the game and want to start getting results away from home in the League. We've been unlucky this season but have to start being tighter on the road.

“We haven't won their for a long time, but Sheffield United hadn't won at Deepdale in a long time either, so things change and we'll be looking to make that change for the good at Portman Road.”
